Mr. Markin -

I just wanted to say thank you so much for your generosity, the Markin Center is absolutely incredible. I cannot wait to start using all of the different workout equipment and facilities it has to offer. Although this is my senior year so it will be my last chance to use it, I know so many students who are excited about Markin, and I’m sure it will help draw in future BU students as well. So thanks again for everything you’ve done for Bradley, we truly appreciate it.

Dear Mr. Markin:

I attended the grand opening on Friday, and I was simply blown away by this amazing building. Thank you for your generous support to Bradley for so many years. It has been my privilege to work here for over 19 years, and this is a dream come true to have this amazing place for our students especially, but also for our entire Bradley family. Thank you!

Thank you…
My daughter is now a senior at Bradley and the Markin Center is now one of the “showpieces” of Bradley campus and will be a strong asset to the BU campus for many years to come.
It is a source of real pride to our Bradley community and to the future freshman classes as well.
Many thanks again for your generosity and for your vision.

Mr. Markin - I am in awe at the Markin Center and excited to utilize the resource. I spoke with many parents and students over the weekend who share my excitement. The parents agreed they were happy when their son/daughter chose BU and the Markin Center confirms their belief that Bradley is commited to putting the students first. Your generosity is an inspiration to all - Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for our Bradley family.

Dear Mr. Markin:

By any measure, whether it is improving the quality of life for our Bradley community, the sheer size of contribution or the intangible value of making Bradley more attractive to prospective students, this special gift is in a class by itself.

Heartfelt thanks, Mr. Markin.

Mr. Markin,

Thank you for this wonderful addition to the Bradley University campus. It is truly an amazing place! Combining recreation and study space is a great idea.

Lisa Fix-GriffinOctober 27th, 2008 at 11:46 am

Dear Mr. Markin,
Thank you for your generous gift to the University. The Center is magnificent to say the least and the students, faculty and staff are thrilled. This is a wonderful facility to house Health Services, the Counseling Center and the Wellness Program. To have these programs centralized in a building which promotes the pursuit of self-care with so much accessibility and “style” is wonderful. I am very appreciative of the therapeutic work space we have now to deliver therapeutic services.

Marty BurgesonOctober 27th, 2008 at 11:58 am

What a beautiful, functinal facility to have on Bradley’s campus. I intend to use it, especially the walking-jogging track. Also some of the exercise equipment. How great to not have to drive to a gym, but be able to walk there from the office. A little more exercise.

KristinOctober 27th, 2008 at 1:10 pm

Dear Mr. Markin,
As the Bradley Hilltopics staff works on the Winter ‘09 issue featuring the beautiful “gift” of the Markin Family Student Recreation Center, we continue to be awestruck by your love for your alma mater. As a ‘97 alum, staff member, and mother of a senior who will work out every day until she graduates, thank you for breathing new life into our campus community.

1953 seems to have been a fantastic year as far as the caliber of students graduating from Bradley.

Mr. Markin, you, and another Bradley Alumnus who I know and who I met coincidentally with the start of my personal experience at BU and who has been very influential on me personally, both graduated that year.

You both are remarkable men, and I aspire to someday reach a point where I can contribute to the overall well-being of Bradley as you and he have done.

The Markin Center is a representative tribute to your generosity to the university. It is a wonderful facility and will not only be of benefit to the student body, but also is a glimmering example to the community and prospective Bradley students of the potential that Bradley provides its students, both while they are on campus and beyond.

Thank you.

Megan Ivaska '05December 12th, 2008 at 8:54 am

Mr. Markin,

As a student at Bradley from 2001-2005, I desired very much for something beyond Hausler. I was passionate about Bradley not matching up to other recognized campuses due to the lack of recreational facilities. I just read about the new Markin Center in my Bradley Hilltopics and am so happy for the Bradley Community and can’t wait to see the new facility for myself sometime!

Thanks for your generosity to building the health of thousands to come.
