coooollldd. cold.

The title of this blog explains how the weather has been lately.  Cold.  I’m not complaining though! I love the cold weather, scarfs and hoodies are the best.  This past weekend was parent’s weekend.  There were a ton of parents on campus, it was pretty cool.  My parents came in town on Saturday.  We did a few of the activities on campus that were scheduled for the parents weekend, such as the Magician we had on campus!  They also got to come into the admissions office here where I work to take a peek where I spend a lot of my time!  The weekend was great because they took me to a nice dinner, bought me all new groceries and brought my warmer clothes down, which was in perfect time for the weather change.  Unfortunately, I think I went a week too long without winter gear, because now I’ve come down with some sort of cold–gross.  Earlier this week I went into Markin, the new recreation center, to work out.  It was fantastic.  I can’t even put into words how amazing this rec center is.  AWE-SOME.  Other than that I’ve been staying crazy busy.  Papers, Papers, Papers.  I have soo many to do this week, so I’m just taking it one at a time.  This weekend is Halloween and I’m pretty excited for that.  There is a lot going on Bradley’s campus, including a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture show tomorrow night! I personally am dressing up as miss Hannah Montana…my roommate is going as Miley Cyrus.  Perfection.  If anyone has any good costumes let me know! Otherwise any questions? Things you want me to write about? Just send ‘em my way! Have a good one!

Flying through Fall; an update.

That title makes me sound kind of professional doesn’t it?! Well anyway the title is true. The leaves are changing and my favorite season is well on it’s way here at Bradley. Last weekend was Bradley’s fall break. I was able to go home for a few days but had to be back on campus for our HUGE Columbus day visit day. I gave two tours to some fantastic families, so if you guys are reading this..hope you enjoyed the day! It’s now mid-term time so there is a huge crunch to get projects, papers and tests in…I can’t say I love any of those things but it’s ok. This coming weekend is Parents weekend! I am so excited. This is a pretty good time of the year for parents to come visit because our campus is gorgeous…and everyone is running out of food so it’s a great time for the parents to come and buy our groceries! There’s a lot going on campus next weekend with all the parents coming down. There is a magician as well as other events for the parentals to go to. Thursday will officially open the Markin Recreation Center. Woo Woo! I am so excited. The only down side is this means I have to start working out again, but in this state of the art center, I think I can manage! Well that’s about all I’ve got for today. It’s beautiful outside today so I have a feeling studying is going to take a backseat so that I can go outside and play in the leaves…

Have a good week everyone! Make sure to email me with any questions!!!

Homecoming!

So this past week has been our Homecoming week here at Bradley! It all started Wednesday night when they lit the bright red “B” on top of Bradley hall. I heard it was awesome. Our theme was Indiana Jones this year so there was a man dressed up as Indiana Jones who rapelled down from the top of the building. WHOA! Also that night there was a Foam Party on the quad. This is where they fill an area completely in foam and people just dance and have fun in it! It was a little too cold for me to play in foam that night, but I heard it was a lot of fun. There was a lot going on the whole week, Friday was our Founder’s day, so we got to have all our classes cancelled from 10-12 for a convocation. Saturday was the huge homecoming soccer game! I was there for the tailgating and had so much fun!!! It was awesome to see all the alumni back at the game. Loved it!

Also this weekend I got to see our theaters production of Pirates of Penzance! It was phenominal. Shout out to all of our STARs in it! You guys did fantastic! Also President Joann Glasser made a cameo in the musical…too cool!

Alright well I’m out for the day.

Yay for our first visit day.

So I am so excited, and actually I just can’t hide it. (Yikes, that was a bad song reference) But anyway, I’m very excited because tomorrow is our first Visit Day of the Fall! We are welcoming 118 wonderful families onto our campus for the day to share with them how amazing our campus really is.  I’m a little sad because this is the first year I won’t be able to give tours at the visit day.  But for those of you who are coming to the visit day, I’ll be at the registration tour, so please say hi and tell me how much you love my blog Ü.  Beyond getting ready for the visit day, I’ve just been keeping busy.  My classes are all going really well.  Right now one of my favorites is Child Study Center.  It’s a psychology course but is also availible to Education majors.  It’s basically a preschool located in Bradley Hall (The castle like building on campus).  The teachers (Bradley students, like myself) plan the activities for each day and interact with the kids and in the end do testing on the children to see their progress.  In my class, I have 3 vivacious boys.  One is two years old, the other two are three years old.  Let me tell you they are a handful.  Apparantly, at that age, “NO” is your favorite word.  But it is so much fun to see them progress and develop.  Plus, how many other three credit courses let you finger paint and play with play-doh? Alright well I’m off to class! Have a good week!

Hi Everyone!

Hi Everyone! My name is Sarah and I’m new to this whole blog thing but I’m super excited to be here! So I’m now into my 4th week here as a Sophmore and have been sooooo busy. Luckily it’s been the good kind of busy. All of my classes are now starting to prepare for the first exams and projects, which makes me more than a little nervous. It’s a good thing the library is open until 2 a.m. because it looks like that will be my new home for a while! The good news is that along with this, all of the organizations I’m involved in are starting up again also. It’s really awesome how many clubs there are on campus. With over 220 it’s really not hard to find one you’ll love, I know I have. I just joined Photo Society this year which I think is going to be great. Despite all my activities and school work I’ve been lucky enough to have time to recap on the first three seasons of my favorite show–The Office! I’m reallyl pumped because the new season starts Thursday!! A bunch of girls on my love the show as well so I think we’re going to watch it in the common room on our floor together, should be fun! Alright well I should get going, there’s a band concert on the quad I want to check out this afternoon! Have a good weekend!

Just an update

Hi Everyone! This past week has been quite the rollercoaster. Friday after working all day in the office making schedules for our new tour guides, I got to relax a little bit by going to see a comedian on campus! His name is Eddie Ifft and he was hilarious. He has his own comedy special coming out on Comedy Central so be sure to check that out! But anyway, ACBU, which is the activites council, brought him to campus. It was a free event for all students and was in Lydia’s Lounge, which is a newly renovated Lounge area in one of our residence halls. It was a great turn out! We had so many people there and one of our own STARs (student admissions representatives/ tour guides) Daniel, got to open for Eddie! He was hilarious…Way to go Daniel! Anyway, upon leaving the comedian, we all noticed there was a slight monsoon outside. There was literally 3 inches of standing water on the ground. I got soaked going back to my apartment. It was hilarious though because the whole weekend you would see all kinds of students playing in the puddles…I was one of them…How old are we? Love it. Also yesterday was a first for me. I got to go to my very first college fair! WooHoo Peoria Notre Dame High School! I got to help give a presentation. It was so much fun and I got to meet a lot of really great people! So if any of you are reading this, Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the coffee mug with the candy! Made my night. Well that’s about all for right now. Have a great day, and set up a visit soon! You can even ask for me as a tour guide, because I’m kind-of pretty fantastic. I’m not biased.

Bye Everyone! Send e-mails with questions! Or just to let me know what you’d like to hear about on campus!

Welcome back!

Hi Everyone!!! Sorry this has taken so long but I have been busy beyond belief. Classes are back in full swing and the STARS program (the people who give you tours of campus and answer all your Bradley questions) is going great. We just hired about 28 new STARS and let me tell you, they are all rockSTARS. So make sure to come visit and get a tour by one of our fabulous tour guides! Welcome week was awesome as usual. It started out the first night with Block Party, which is located on Fredonia and is one of the biggest get togethers of the year. We also had Taste of Bradley (kind-of like Taste of Chicago). the Activities fair, a Hypnotist, Second City comedy troupe, a job fair, Casino night, and a concert on the quad by The Heyday, Company of Theives and Treaty of Paris….and those are only the events that I went to and can remember, there were many more! It’s so crazy on campus because there are so many new people. It’s always so fun, I love walking across campus and seeing new faces and those that I already know. I’m that girl who says hi to everyone…seriously it’s weird, I’m sorry. Alright well I’m off to my philosophy class. Have a great week and if you have any questions feel free to send me an e-mail!

Sarah

Well Hello Summer!

Hi Everyone! Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve written. This is actually the first summer I’m living here at Bradley. It’s a lot of fun, but I’ve been working a ton! Gotta save up for those fall books…and some new shoes. ANYWAY. Bradley in the summer is pretty laid back. I’ve been working at the admissions office and nanny-ing for a family during the week as well. The tours I’ve been giving have been a lot of fun. It’s so different during the summer because many of the professors will be found wondering the departments so they will answer any questions and a lot of the time take us into a classroom or a lab. So if you are interested in visiting, make sure to set up an appointment to visit campus this summer! Other than that, the Markin Recreation center is coming along quite rapidly. Everyday I walk past something new has been added. I am soooo excited for that to be done. Here’s a link to show what they’re working on! http://admissions.bradley.edu/freshman/studentlife/recreation/

Alright well that’s about it for me! If you have any questions make sure to email me or to feel free to give the office a call at 1 800 447 6460!

Have a good summer!

Whoa! it’s almost over!!!

Hey everyone! I cannot believe the school year is almost over! I only have 12 days left until my finals and everything are over!  I’m so ready for summer but I am totally not ready to start studying for finals.  Luckily I only have 4 finals over a 3 day period, but they will still be difficult.  I also have a couple papers due this week and next week which means I will be taking full advantage of the fact that our library is open until 2 each morning.  Bring on the coffee!  So this past weekend was pretty fun.  My parents came to visit me and take me out to dinner and start to take some of my stuff home so the move out process won’t be too drastic…I have ALOT of clothes and shoes…oops.  So I’m pretty pumped for summer and to be done with classes however, I’m really going to miss Bradley.  So. I’ve decided to live here this summer! WHOA! I’m really excited.  I’ll be living in my appartment and will be working here at the admissions office and hopefully getting that therapy job I talked about last time! WOOHOOO.

Other than that not much is new in the life of Sarah.  ACBU (the activities council here at Bradley) just got done deciding what events we will be bringing to campus next year and let me tell you…they’re some good ones! I love being able to help decide what we get to bring to campus, so remember that when you come to Bradley if you want to get involved!

Alright well unfortunatly there was a marathon of Recess on TV the other day and last week was GORGEOUS and I was outside all week so I’m just a little bit behind on my school work.  Better get working so I can enjoy the nice weather when it gets here! (Cross your fingers)  Any questions don’t hesitate to Email me or to call the admissions office!

Have a good week!

P.s. did anyone watch The Office on thursday?! I’m sooooo in love with that show!!

SPRING!

Hi Everyone! I’m soooo sorry it’s been so long! I’m sure you all missed me!
But Anyway I have been beyond busy these past couple of weeks.
Today for example was non-stop. It all started at 8:30 when I went to register for J-Term!!!! That’s right, I’m going to LONDON! I am so excited. I get to take a Psychology of Women class with the dean of the LAS department!!! Whoa! The best part is there’s only 12 people in my class! We leave January 2nd and come back on the 18th, just in time for classes to start a few days later, after our break is over.
After I regisitered for that, I had to register for Fall classes. I got into all of the classes that I wanted…all except for one which I was waitlisted because there are a limited amount of seats. I really need this class so I went into the Psychology Department office and talked to the secretary. She was soo helpful and was able to get me into the class I needed! It made my day just that much better.
After that I had some classes, worked a little bit (here’s where I tell you to get your housing deposits in!).
After work I had an interview with a family of a mildly autistic boy. They’re looking for students to be trained and to give therapy to him this summer and next year. I recieved this information from the Psychology department and jumped at the opportunity. I have always wanted to do this and the fact that it was emailed to me was phenominal. All kinds of opportunities come through the different departments and I am so glad I might get to be a part of this one! P.s. the interview went well! Cross your fingers!
Anyway now for the title of my blog….SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!
Yep it’s supposed to be 72 here in beautiful Peoria tomorrow! I’m so excited, the only down side to this is that I won’t get anything done tomorrow…So I should probably get going on that now!
Any questions? Shoot me an email!!!
Have a good one, enjoy the weather!!!!
