Happy Hours!

Hey Folks!!!  I know that I’ve been talking about being busy, but this week gave me some good times. Last Saturday, BBQ Kitten had awesome “Harold of HORROR” shows with great attendance.  The Prunes & Kiwi Discovery Radio Show went hilariously well.  We gave out our first prize of the show for the caller that could identify two of the three music artists we played.  PINOCCHIO OPENDED THIS WEEK!!!!  We had sold-out shows the first two nights and people really like it!!!!  It’s darker than the Disney version so we didn’t know how the audience would take it.  To put the cherry on top, this weekend, I was able to play badminton, racquetball, watch a movie, just chill and talk to friends till 3am, and go to a Chinese buffet!  I also caught up on all my Internet TV.  Times like these just give you a boost of joy and a boost to get through the very busy days.  A bonus is that you don’t have to find a bar to find the best kind of happy hours.

This Whimzical World

I know of a place where it has been raining for four days, the homework is constant, there is rehearsal everyday till 10:30pm, test are shooting at you left and right, songs and monologues that you must learn attack you from the bushes and trees, and sleep sometimes runs away from you like the plague.  This is just one week in this place I know. ”I hope I have to never visit this place”, is what you’re probably thinking.  However, there is another half to this place.  There, hilarious squires frolic around on the trees and ground, you can grab a cup of coffee mixed with hot chocolate mix, Sarah, the receptionist, will joke with you about the silliest things, singing in the quad isn’t out of the ordinary, freshly cut pineapple is served in center court, and laughter falls from the sky just as much as the rain does.  To put the cherry on top you actually have listeners to your radio show!  This place that I speak of is Bradley, of course.  It is the whimsical world that always seems to cheer me up even when it may be a rough week.  Thanks Bradley!

There’s a 95% chance of Busy and 100% chance of No Life

Hey Folks!!!  Well, since the last time I wrote I had my performances of “The Pajama Game”!!!  We did nine performances, which got good reviews and so did I.  My mom, sister, and cousin came down to see a show, and it was great laugh with them afterwards!  In between the performances, I had rehearsal for “Pinocchio”, which will open in November.  This past weekend was the final performance of “the Pajama Game” on Friday, two BBQ Kitten shows on Saturday, and 14 hours of “Pinocchio” Saturday and Sunday.  Somewhere in this I found some time to do homework, and two of my classes require me to prepare songs every week that don’t overlap.  Also, I have aired the “Prunes&Kiwi Discovery Show” twice on BU EDGE Radio and it is going well!!!  What I am trying to say is that I am over involved and I don’t have enough time to watch all of my TV shows online.  I don’t know what’s wrong with be but I can’t seem to say no to performing.  Tonight is SHACK-A-THON, and guess who is singing there tonight…Marlon is!!! Though I may not have much of a life, I love my life.  It keeps me active and moving, and I know the forecast for the next day will be a 95% chance of Busy and 100% chance of no life.  See y’all!

What do you mean it’s only the third week?!!!

I guess BU and I wasted no time getting on the busy-no time train.  I’ve been writing papers, preparing songs, singing, researching, reading, printing, studying, and that’s just for my classes.  I my performance world, I am starting The Prunes & Kiwi Discovery Radio Show, practicing for our first BBQ Kitten show tonight, rehearsing for the musical, “The Pajama Game”, that opens Thursday, and taking tap dance lessons.  What I’m trying to say is that I should be this busy closer to the end of the semester, however, IT”S ONLY THE THIRD WEEK!!!  I remind myself I’m doing what I love and to play hard on the weekends, or just sleep as much as possible.  On a lighter note, I have been watching the Tennis US Open, which is a great escape from my regular life, and I have laughed a lot this week.  The comedian, Kyle Cease, came this past Saturday and was hilarious and free so that really made me happy.  This semester is going to be a Monster so hopefully I will make it to the fourth week.

Bradley Bubble Bashed!!!

WoW!  Well, summer slipped away like a wet bar of soap and Bradley has sucked me into its bubble again.  I have been here for three weeks, and the first two were spent rehearsing all day for the BU Theatre Musical “The Pajama Game”!  I live in Williams hall this year with my new room mate, Mike, who is cool and a transfer from UofI. Welcome Week was a blast; it was great seeing all of my college friends and catching up.  I even got to interview students and Joanne Glaser at the block party!  BBQKitten and Chorale have started and i have auditions for Midstate Magazine coming up.  We have just gone through our first three days of classes, and this may be a tough semester with all that I’m doing.  The Bradley bubble Syndrome is in full effect now, and I plan to really enjoy my senior year.  Talk to you all later!

Sweet, Sweet, Summer Salvation!!!

So let me state first that I love Bradley and all the adventures that it brings, but i needed a brake!!!

The spring semester of 2009 wore me out!  I had two final projects due for my advertising classes, a scene and monologue due for my acting class, four singing performances, a BBQ Kitten show, and finals.  This was all in the final two and a half weeks, and the whole semester had been crazy busy.

Now that it is summer, there is so much more peace in my life.  I work at the Bradley admissions office a few hours every day, work out at the Markin center, rehearse and perform “The Producers” the musical at corn stock theatre, hangout with friends, watch “Lost”, and sleep.  It’s pretty much amazing.  Who knew Bradley could be so cool, calm and collective?  I definitely needed this break just to do the things I love.

Thank you SUMMER!!!

I Guess I Don’t Have an Off Switch?

Well, it has been a while since my last post, and many things have happened.  I was in the play “Patrick Day Needs a Change” as Patrick Day and it was awesome!  We got great reviews and it is the first time as an actor that I had to cry on stage!!!  Now I am cast in “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)”, which is all 37 of his plays in 90 minutes.  I am also now the host for the Arts segment for our Bradley news shows, Midstate Magazine!!! During My spring break, I went on a trip with BBQ Kitten for three days and we saw improve shows and did an improve clinic.  Once that trip was over, I went on a theatre retreat to Oregon, IL for a workshop where we developed an original play about Pinocchio!!!  So I had tons of fun but during break but no actual break from work.  After a week of classes and rehearsals, I sang and hosted for the variety show with my friend, Drew, as Ebony and Ivory for Late Night BU.  Three of my high school friends also visited on Friday and we had a blast and some good laughs.  On Saturday, I had two rehearsals then two BBQ Kitten shows, which went well.  On Sunday, I had a Bradley Chorale Concert, dinner, then ceremonies for my fraternity, then steak and shake and homework.  So turning myself off for awhile isn’t an option and it is so much better than having nothing to do.  This coming weekend, my Shakespeare play has its performances and I have a huge project to work on so I have to keep on trucking along and make sure I laugh through it all!!!

A Funny Moment

I would just like to say that I went to eat in Williams cafeteria with my friend Drew.  While getting food I started talking to my friend Chris and he spilled soup on the ground and didn’t wipe it up.  After we were done talking, I decided that I did want a hot dog so I went back and grabbed a bun and hotdog.  The only problem with this situation is that Chris had spilled his soup where the hotdogs were and when I turned around, I slipped and flew in the air along with the hotdog and bun and all three of us landed on the ground.  So for that tenth of a second I thought, “really? Did this happen the day Williams is packed? Am I really lying on this floor?  Is the hotdog okay?”  I heard a light “ooooo” from the eaters and then I got up as fast and graceful as possible, acting like nothing happened.  Once realizing that there was no way anyone could have missed that fall, I decided to announce the play I an in this weekend, Patrick Day Needs A Change, since I already had everyone’s attention.  Afterwards, Chris said he would get me shoes with traction for my birthday.

Bradley Bombed My Break!!!

Hey Folks!!!  Well, winter break was just AMAZING!!!  I did almost nothing for 4 weeks and loved and charished every moment of it.  The only things I did were host chistmas eve, hang out, and go to a four day theatre competition.  Oh, and i watched 2.5 seasons of LOST.  Little did I know that Bradley University was going to come along and rip my paradise to shreads.  I’m taking 18 hours this semester and many of my classes require more work than usual,  I am the lead in the play Patrick Day Needs a Change as Patrick Day, I have to rehearse for a show for my fraternity APO, I work in the admissions office, and I have rehearsal for BBQ Kitten at the moment.  So as you can see I will NOT be watching LOST anytime soon but that is ok.  Once I get my schedule figured out and get into a cycle, I will be fine.  Im also doing things I love, except for some of my classes.  I cant wait for the weekend and to play racquet ball again, but that won’t be for weeks.  Bradley you treat me so right and yet so wrong.

Beautiful Bradley Always Keeps me Busy!!!

Well life at bradley before break was pretty hectic, but theat’s how I like it I guess.  In the last 2 weeks I did 2 BBQ Kitten Shows and I got to improv sing with our new musician Joe.  It felt amazing!!!  My friend Drew and I worked with the admissions department and Angel Tree Charity to raise money for families.  We made quite a splash on campus by delivering and singing holiday songs for $3 each.  We impressed the dean of communications so much he had record some of the songs for the communications website!  Drew and I also had auditions for the theatre’s next 2 mainstage shows, which we recieved callbacks for but not actual roles.  However, hope was not lost because we auditioned for the student run lab theater show Patrick Day Needs a Change, written by Sean Cummings, and I got the role of Patrick Day and Drew got the role of Connor, my best friend!!!.  So bradley now keeps me busy over the break leaning a ton of lines.  To add on to that, when I was in Pirates of Penzance I was nominated for an acting award and during break I have return to braldey early to compete for the award.  So I have two more scenes to learn and I will have plenty of work and plenty of fun over Break!!!  I hope yours will be a great as mine.  Oh, studying and finals went well.  I just had a few late nights but i don’t freak out about them.  Happy holidays and try to laugh as much as you can over break.
