FINAL FRENZY!!!!!

There are a lot of final like activities happening this time of year. So this past week has been pretty awesome. To start things off, last Thursday was spring fling. We got to paint our own t-shirts and take ipod silhouette photos. Then we went to Emily’s, my friend, piano recital where we made OW OW signs. Afterwards, Kyle, Emily, Dean and I hung out in Constance quad goofing of, laughing, and dancing to Emily’s phone. Last Saturday, I played a pet psychic for a pet day at a vet clinic. I had to tell their future and guess their birthday. I saw the future of about 30 dogs and I got two birthdays right! That evening, I sang with the Jazz Band on their final concert and talk about a rush!!! Chris and I sang, danced, and tore the house down!!! Monday, I sang in recital lab for the final time for all of the music faculty and staff. It went really well and it was even my accompanist’s final recital lab. On Tuesday, I had my final BBQ Kitten show, and six of us joined the dead kitten society. I died by roller coaster in the end. Wednesday was the final theatre study day roast, and boy did I get roasted to a crisp. My friends sold me out, and that’s how it’s supposed to be, but I didn’t think it would be this bad. Thursday, final exams started, which really means it’s the beginning of the end. Friday, was the senior theatre picnic where some of the others tried to throw me in the freezing pool, I got shot with nerf guns, played with a raccoon puppet, and laughed so much. Life is so much fun right now. I will write a FINAL FRENZY Part 2 for my final week at Bradley.

See y’all

I’M ELDERLY :(

I don’t know what happened or how I got here, but on April 20th I turned the ripe, old age of 22! As you can see…I have aging issues, but at least I had an awesome birthday week! On Tuesday, I went to taco bell and out on a country road to do some stargazing. Wednesday, I went to the Feildhouse with some BBQ Kittens, and then went to BBQK rehearsal. On Thursday, I went to see “Twelfth Night” at the theatre and laughed my butt off! A lot of my friends were in the show, which made it even funnier. After the show my friend, Drew, and I went to stake and shake. Friday, I went with a few friends to the Burger Barge, and then we went to see a movie. Friday was also the fairly tale cast party for “Twelfth Night”, and I went as “Blapunzle” or the male black Rapunzle. I wore a huge afro and said, “I let my hair up”. Saturday, we went to Stone Country, a line-dancing place, for my birthday. I LOVE LINE DANCING!!! I had to teach it in high school. There was also Karaoke!!! I LOVE KARAOKE!!! It was a blast! Sunday, I went to brunch with my friend, Kyle, and then we went to a band concert. I was also able to toss in doing homework. I guess I’m not as elderly as I thought. It was an awesome five days, and they just keep getting better.

See y’all,

Nothing But What I Love

So the past week has been doing so much of what I love. Last Saturday, I performed in a scene directed by my friend, Dean, and one of my chair legs broke during the scene! Luckily I stood up before the chair fell on the floor, and the audience loved it. Wednesday, the Chico & Mars Radio Show was like a party. Thursday, I sang with the jazz band, which is so amazing! Friday, I did a four-hour photo shoot for my friend, Ben, who’s a photo major. I also did a BBQ Kitten show for Relay for life, which was AWESOME!!! Saturday, I was in a Batman remake movie my friend, Bill, is shooting. Finally, I did two more BBQ Kitten shows that evening, which were so much fun. On the other side of my life, I’ve been doing a lot of sitting in the sun with friends, some homework, and enjoying life. I was sick for a few days, the health center helped me figure it out, and I only missed a few classes. Life was pretty nice this week because it was nothing but what I love.

See y’all,

Happy Happenings!

There have been so many awesome things happening in my life lately. To start things off right… WINTER IS OFFICIALLY OVER!!! The sun gave us a beautiful 81 degrees recently, and everyone was out on the quad tanning, playing catch, playing bags, studying, and having water balloon fights. I thought there was a special event going on, but it was just the sun shining that brought everyone out. The next great thing that happened is that Bradley Idol was this week, my performance went really well, the judges really liked me, I came in 2nd place, and I won $150!!!!!…Now I can pay bills!!! My friend, Billy, visited from SLU on Wednesday and Thursday! I haven’t seen him in a year. In the past weeks, life was really busy, but I was able to play racquetball twice this week with my friend, Kyle, and go swimming at the Markin center! It’s fun and exercise all in one. The final awesome news is that I have an acting job this summer!!!! I’ll be doing Hairspray and Cats in Idaho!!!! I love finding happiness everywhere I turn.

See y’all,

Marlon

A Break of Briliance

Last week was spring break for us at Bradley, and what a break it was! I left last Friday at 6:30 am with the Bradley Chorale on our tour, which meant I got to miss my Friday classes!!! We gave about nine performances in four days. Since I’m a senior, I got to initiate a new member and they had to perform in drag in this huge mall! I had to perform in drag at a bowling alley when I was a new member so I thought that was fair. I got to stay with some awesome people and I laughed a lot. The next day after tour, I was on a 7am plane with my friends, Drew and Justin, to New York City!!! This was my first time there and we had an awesome time…and my credit card got a workout. We saw seven shows in five days, and they all were fantastic. GOD of Carnage and MEMPHIS were my two favorites. The weather was high 60s to low 70s every day so central park was beautiful. I also got to hang out with some relatives that I never get to see. We met some Bradley alumni that are actors and living there, and we met a producer. Also, Justin bought something from American Eagle so the three of us got to be on a billboard in Times Square for 15 seconds! I didn’t get much sleep while there, got back to Bradley at 11pm on Sunday, and had class at 10am on Monday…caffeine is my best friend at the moment. This Break blew my mind!

See y’all,

Pure Awesomeness

So this week has pretty nice. Now, this probably isn’t something to be proud of, but this Monday I walked into my western civ class and had no idea we had a test that day. BUT IT WAS AN OPEN NOTE TEST!!! I got an A on it! Even though I had to leave early, Wednesday we had the Chico and Mars Radio Show 80s music day, which was really fun. Also on Wednesday, I found out that I am cast in another show! People have been giving great comments about “Fences”, and we only have two shows left and last night went really well. Thursday, I felt I did well on my advertising test because I really studied! Studying is a hard thing for me to do. I’ll let you know how I did. Yesterday, I shot my first edition of street team for the TV station!! I got to ask people on campus various questions about St. Patrick’s Day and try to get them to do an Irish jig!! That was just a blast and a lot of laughing! Also, I had the Prunes and Kiwi Discovery Show, and it was one of our better ones. Finally, I got to go to Steak n’ Shake last night with my little sib from my theatre fraternity. This week was pure awesomeness.

Just Going Over Another Fence

The play I am in, “Fences”, opened on Thursday!!!! It was awesome!!! We got great feedback from the audience. President Glasser came and I made her cry! I auditioned for the directing class scenes, which hopefully means I will be in one more play before “the end”. This weekend, I was able to hang out with my non-theatre friends, which was awesome because I’m always at the theatre. We played Scene It, Would You Rather, and just laughed the whole night…it was just the calm night I needed. We do eight performances of each main stage show so life gets pretty hectic. It’s hard to believe that in one week I will be done with the play and have hours of free time…maybe I should practice and study. Good thing I have plenty of friends that will distract me!

See y’all

Rock Climbing

So stress has been sort of my best friend since the last time I wrote. Last weekend were the three performances of “The Last Five Years”, which I was publicist, box office operator, and spot light operator for. On Saturday, I had to sing at a benefit for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. In the play I’m performing in, “Fences”, we worked on the scene where I lose my mind. I lost three games of racquetball. The job fair was this week, which meant i had to go to but didn’t want to. You see…I’m an advertising major, but acting is my passion. So the job fair was a win loose situation when it comes to my future. I guess the small highlights were that my radio shows went well and BBQ Kitten was fun. I feel like it was funny how the end of the week played out because all the racquetball courts were full on Thursday (of course), which meant my friend, Kyle, and I had to find something else to do in the Markin Center. We ended up going rock climbing on a whim. It completely symbolized my last week. It was pretty tough to climb up, but there were some pretty awesome grips to help me to the top.

So till next week,

See y’all

Free Time = Volleyball Tennis + Reporting + Radio Shows

So I am in the play Fences at the moment, and I play the role of Gabriel.  The thing about this role is that I only speak on eight pages of the script, which means my rehearsal schedule is very light!!!  Most of my roles at BU have required me to be at rehearsal for four hours every night, but now it ranges from 30 min. to one hour!!!  So now that I have free time, I could study more or fill it with more activities.  Guess which one I chose?  I was at the Markin center pumping some iron, when I saw some of my friends playing a game in the indoor soccer field that wasn’t soccer.  They invited me down to play and it turns out it was volleyball tennis.  A low net, one bounce, six-person team, no racquet kind of game.  It was a blast and we’re thinking about playing every week!  I also will be returning to the BU TV show, Midstate Magazine, as a reporter.  To make things even better, I am continuing the Prunes & Kiwi Discovery Show with my friend Alex, and I began the Chico & Mars Radio Show today on the radio with my good friend Kyle!  I plan to have a blast here my last semester.  Oh!  Classes are good too.

See y’all later,

Marlon

Well Hello Again Bradley

Well, after some relaxation at home, a week in Florida, a week in Michigan, and more relaxation at home…I am back for my final semester at BU!!!  Wow how time flies.  Cliche, but true.  I have gone through my first three days of classes and they are going to be hard…even the one’s I want to take.  I started rehearsal for my next play, Fences, and my role is so much fun!!!  I play Gabriel who actually thinks he is Gabriel the angel.  It’s been great catching up with all my friends again, and I am ready to have tons of laughs and fun.  I mean, I may have to read more than I ever have this semester but I will find a way to fit in the fun!  Who knows what adventures this semester will bring?!

See yall,

Marlon
