Job & Internship fair today!

Hi again!

So much has been going on these past couple weeks! All the fraternities and sororities just finished their rush and bid day and all that, and although I’m not a part of Greek life, I can still feel all the business because of it! I have a lot of friends who are in fraternities and sororities too. But what’s really been keeping me busy is classes (obviously) and club volleyball. I had tryouts Monday and just found out yesterday that I made it. I was soo happy because I love volleyball and have been missing the sport so much! But we practice Monday and Wednesday nights and since I like to go to bed kind of early, it’s really been taking a lot out of me. But hopefully I’ll get used to the practice times because it’s so worth it – I’m having so much fun already. We had our first official practice yesterday and it felt so great to start playing again. Everyone I play with loves volleyball too and all the girls have played for teams before so we get some really good games going. I’m excited about continuing to play with the team while having fun getting to know my teammates better. There are other club teams as well as intramurals for a ton of sports, but I think I’ll just stick to club volleyball since it occupies enough of my time for now.

I’m also excited for the new Markin center to open soon! Once that opens we’ll get to practice there, which really makes me happy – I’ve seen pictures of the progress and it looks fantastic so far.

On another note, there was a fall job and internship fair today with about 130 employers from a bunch of different industries and companies. There were so many people in there it was hard to get around! Although I haven’t taken advantage of the job and internship fair yet, I definitely plan on doing so next year. I would have gone if I needed a job or internship this year, but I am still really glad that the Smith Career Center sets up these kinds of events for students to go and find good jobs and internships. And the whole thing takes place right in the Student Center, which is close to everything and quite a convenient spot.

I have to get to class soon but if you want to talk to me or ask any questions just leave me a comment! - Kristin :)

The beginning of the school year is the best time of year :)

Hey guys!

I’m the newest student blogger here at Bradley, so I figured that I should first tell you a little bit about myself so Ion’t seem like so much of a stranger anymore! Well, for starters, my name is Kristin, and I am a sophomore here at Bradley. I am a journalism and Spanish major, and I love it! This year I’m living in Harper next to all my best girl friends, so it’s a lot of fun. After your freshman year, students are not only able to request friends as roommates, but can request to live next to other friends as well. I’m so thankful for that because now I get to see all my best friends so many times a day because they’re literally 2 feet away – it’s fantastic! I open my door and I can see my friend Erika sitting at her desk doing homework.. haha. I love it!

I can’t believe it’s only been a couple weeks since I’ve been back at school; it feels like I’ve been here for so long (in a good way)! I just feel so at home and comfortable, and I’m so happy to be back! Classes are going well; I’m in some pretty interesting ones. I love my philosophy class; it really gets you thinking (obviously, it shouldn’t be called philosophy otherwise!). I finally started taking journalism classes too, which is such a breath of fresh air. I took a few basic communication courses last year, which were still fun, but to have classes that specialize in exactly what field I’m going into is really cool. I’ve been taking Spanish classes since my first semester here, but this year they are getting a bit tougher since I tested into the 300 level right away and just am moving my way on up. But it’s a good challenge – learning a language is hard, but these classes are making me feel so much more prepared and able to speak, understand, read, and just communicate. Well, I have to go to my journalistic writing class (yay), but if you have any questions about anything, feel free to contact me! Talk to you soon.
