Seriously having WAY too much fun!

So thankfully the weather has been REALLY pretty, which was awesome for Shack-A-Thon!!! Shack-A-Thon is an annual event put on by the Bradley chapter of Habitat for Humanity. The idea is, get as much cardboard and duct tape as you can and build a “shack” and then spend the night in it. It’s always a LOT of fun, and I was fortunate enough to help my fraternity build a shack. Each organization pays an entry fee and all of the proceeds go towards helping Habitat build a house in the Peoria area! They’ve already built FIVE houses and are looking to build a sixth! Also, because no one wants to shack in silence, I was able to SING! I’m part of On The Rocks, Bradley’s premiere male a cappella group (we’re premiere because we’re the only one), and one of the coordinators for Shack-A-Thon called and asked if we wanted to sing a few songs. And of COURSE we love to sing, so we had a little late-night concert and got people excited and kept them from getting too bored in their shacks. Shack-a-thon was Wednesday afternoon until Thursday afternoon, and Friday was our first visit day! I was soooo excited…but not about getting up at 7 AM. Boo on that. But that meant I got to meet and mingle with a LOT of really cool families and wear a really expensive shirt. Oh the perks of being an intern! If you saw me at the visit day…send me an email! I love hearing from people! And if you visited and I DIDN’T see you, email me anyway if you have any questions or want to talk about anything. Saturday I had my 2nd radio show of the year and I cannot say how much I love doing that show. It’s so easy to get involved because the station is still growing. Plus you get to play whatever kind of music you want to play! You could even host your own talk show! And the executive board is all Bradley students, too, so they’re very understanding if you have to miss a show or something like that. I’ve got semi-big week ahead…all of my tests were last week and they went pretty well. Hopefully I can get outside and enjoy a few extra hours of sunshine before fall REALLY gets here. Have a good week! Study hard!

Does your group perform at parties, etc? Could I hire you to sing at a baby shower on a Sunday in April? Do you have appropriate songs for that? How much do you charge?

Margaret,

Thanks for the comment. I’m not sure if we’ve got songs about babies, but we’ve definitely got some entertaining stuff that would be a nice break in the festivities. If you’re seriously interested in getting some more details or hiring us, go ahead and email Trevor (tsomers@mail.bradley.edu). He’s the business manager for the group and would be happy to look into something for you.

Thanks again!

Kevin
